Unlocking the Treasures of Phu Quy Island: Essential Guide for Peak Season Travelers

Traveling to Phu Quy Island during peak tourist season offers a plethora of homestays, dining options, and entertainment services, catering to the diverse needs of visitors.

Phu Quy Island has emerged as a favored beach destination in recent times. Following the opening of the Dau Giay - Phan Thiet expressway in April 2023, travel to Phu Quy Island has become more accessible, resulting in an

unprecedented influx of tourists, particularly on April 30.

This year, Mr. Bui Quoc Le, a tour guide in Phu Quy, notes a significant increase in accommodation options on the island, effectively addressing the issue of guests having to compromise on lodging. Additionally, food, beverage, and recreational services have become more readily available, with amenities such as electricity, soft drinks, and internet connectivity now more complete.

Below are some key points provided by Mr. Le to facilitate a more convenient experience for visitors to Phu Quy Island:

Time on the Island:

The dry season, typically from January to June, is the most favorable period to visit Phu Quy. The peak months are from March to May when the sea is calmer and navigation is easier. A typical visit to the island spans 3 days and 2 nights, allowing ample time to explore its offerings.

Getting to the Island:

Currently, the most suitable mode of transportation to the island is via speedboat. Among the popular shipping companies are Phu Quy Express, Superdong, Chan Kha, and Trung Trac. The journey from the mainland to the island takes approximately 2.5 hours. It is advisable for tourists to monitor weather conditions and check the operating schedules of cruise lines to account for any changes due to rough seas.

Getting Around the Island:

Motorbikes are the preferred mode of transportation on the island due to the proximity of attractions. Motorbike rental prices average around 100,000 VND per day, while scooters cost around 150,000 VND per day. Additionally, there are car rental services available for larger groups, along with jeeps for guided tours.

Accommodation:

Phu Quy offers a variety of accommodations ranging from resorts and sea-view villas to homestays and hotels. During peak season, it's advisable to book accommodations in advance, particularly sea-view rooms which tend to fill up quickly on weekends and holidays. Prices for double rooms range from 350,000 VND to 1 million VND per night.

Experiential Tours:

Various tours are available for visitors, including canoe trips to Hon Tranh, scuba diving tours to observe coral reefs, and day activities costing approximately 500,000 to 600,000 VND per person.

Popular Attractions:

Phu Quy Island boasts several picturesque attractions such as Trieu Duong Bay, the Colosseum, Doc Phuot, Sovereign Landmark, Ganh Hang, and Master Sai Nai's Tomb.

Dining Options:

Visitors can enjoy a variety of dishes ranging from traditional breakfast options like Quang noodles to seafood and grilled specialties. Notable dining spots include Ngoc Tinh, Hoa Thuong, and Thanh Binh for hot beef specialties, as well as various seafood vendors in rafting villages for fresh catches.

In conclusion, visiting Phu Quy Island during peak tourist season promises a memorable experience with its abundant offerings of accommodations, dining options, and scenic attractions.
